YVAN PETIT

Yvan started playing guitar at the age of 10 years old. After his dad showed him a few chords Yvan was hooked and started practicing daily, sometimes for 3-4 hours at a time. At 15 years old, he became the lead guitar player of his father's band and has never turned back since. Yvan's first guitar player influence was Canada's own guitar wizard Steve Piticco. His twangy tone and string bending style appealed to Yvan very much. He started studying all the country "chicken pickin" guitar players such as John Jorgensen, Brent Mason, Pete Anderson, Vince Gill and Brad Paisley. Playing with many bands, Yvan was exposed to various styles of music and started listening to other players such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Zakk Wylde and Slash to name a few. In the year 2000, at the age of 23 years old, Yvan started playing lead guitar for the now award winning country artist Johnny Reid which he still performs with to this day. 

After nearly 30 years of guitar experience, Yvan decided to share his knowledge and give guitar lessons, specializing in country "chicken pickin"lead guitar. He accepts students whose skills range from beginner to advanced. Whether you only want to learn your favorite country songs or you want to learn some theory, scales, tricks and techniques to help you create your own solos, Yvan will shape the lessons according to each student's level and interest.
